Wellstons three wins came against schools with a combined three wins total. Alex is hoping to secure one of the final playoff berths in DIV, Reg 15.

Alex BIG!

A must win for the spartans...and i think thats what they will do. The Rockets will put up a fight like they have all year...but with the playoffs starting this week for Alex, i think they get it done.

Wellston's season has come down to this. Go to Albany and knock the Spartans out of the playoffs. Coach Arno (COY<IMO) will have his team ready for the Rockets .He knows Wellston isnt as bad as the record says. This will be a good game and down to the last possesion .
Wellston just couldnt get over the hump this season .They played a tough non-conference schedule and lost some close games to some good teams.
I am hoping for a good clean injury free game .

Sorry coach Arno , a good friend and a former Wellston coach but we are going to come over there friday night to win. ;-)

Any other year, I'd be cheering for the Spartans to beat Wellston. Not this year. NY needs all the playoff points we can get, and a Wellston win will give us points, but an Alex win won't. So good luck Rockets!!!! Pull off the upset! :-D

it's hard to win in albany.
If it's close all the calls go to the home team, the worst place to play in the t.v.c.

There is a High School and a football field named boston field in Buchtel Ohio. I just thought it would be easier to type than the other name .

I like Alexander in this one, by about 10 points. Wellston will hang in there, but Alex's defense will show up for this game and keep the Rockets in check.

Oh, and whompascat, I'm afraid I have to disagree with you on the worst place to play in the TVC. It isn't Albany. It has got to be Waterford, the absolute worst field in the league, and you get those Washington County officials, well, you know what you are getting there.....

Good luck to both teams, play hard and injury free.

Boiler...About 15 years ago, the city of Nelsonville annexed the school and a few property owners for the city income tax base of the employees at the high school and elementary school into the city of Nelsonville. Most could care less what city the school is located in, just thought you needed to know.

As for rooting against us to NOT get into the playoffs...please explain the reasoning, I don't get it.

I'll be rooting for your Rockets and I am thinking about taking them on my weekly radio picks.

GO ROCKETS !!!!!!!!!!!

Bishtakes, I really only pull for two teams . One of course is the Rockets, the other is the Tigers of Ironton.
I was only being sarcastic towards nybuckeye96 and his post .
If Nelsonville makes it I wish them good luck , but if I go to support a playoff team it will be Ironton.
I also like to get the Buckeye fans riled up with the Buchtel comments . It is really funny to me how most of them deny that the field or the school is in Buchtel.I just get a kick out of it.

What a year of First for Alexander...
1st time ever they defeated Nelsonville-York ever in Football...(awesome feat)
1st time they will ever make the Play-Offs?

I do feel Coach Arno will get his Spartans the WIN Friday versus Wellston, and I hope that in doing so they will get into the Play-Offs...

Good Luck to Alexander are their Mission to get into Week 11...

I think that Wellston could hang with Alex. I was talking to a Spartan parent at the game friday and he said that he bought his kid the 3/4 inch cleets at Dunhams where the other players got theirs. Wellston needs to run to Dunhams to be able to run at Alex. Should be a good game.

They will need 3"-4" cleats to stand up on that field. One of the worst in the state. Definately a good reason to move the soccer games to an alternate field.

I was at the VC Alex game in Albany last Friday...They have a really nice practice field beside the football field..maybe moving the soccer games to that field would help out some. The practice field was in great shape by the way. I know alot has been said about Alexanders football field latley..but i would just like to say that even though the football field may be in a lil rough shape..the rest of the facilities over there are great! New bleachers..new sidewalks!!..The baseball/softball fields are great!...and the gym as well. Alex has really improved pretty much everything! Just thought id say that since theyve been getting some greif over their field.

This game depends on which Alex team shows up, the one that got clobbered by Athens and beat by Meigs or the one that manhandled N-Y. I wouldn't be shocked if either team won this game but I think the Spartans show up for this one and take home the victory.

The same could be said for Wellston. If they come to play they can win. If they come to cry about officiating like last week, they will lose.

A person sent me a private message saying it was against the rules to wear cleats longer than 1/2". Does anyone out there know if this is true? Thanks

Yes I believe that to be true. I will ask R. Ash as soon as I see him today. I sure would not want to have to try to stand up on that soccer field if it rains. After seeing the Alex v/s NY game on film I saw the secret to stopping Arnold. Just get the field so slick he can't stand up, let alone run.

Alexander will NOT take Wellston lightly. Add the Boilermaker factor (diehard fan support) and Wellston will be ready to go on Friday.

I think Alexander knows that this is a must win game. I pick the Spartans to win at home for an 8-2 regular season record.

Seniors of both teams, a special good luck to all of you.

Good luck to both teams. See you at the game.

for starters i would like to make a brief comment on the ref situation. for someone from glouster to say that albany has the worst refs lmao. trimble gets their refs from the shingle inn ten minutes before the game, kidding of course (or am i?) anyway thats besides the point. next i would like to say that i agree about all the alexander facilities. rumor has it that the soccer team is going to move to the practice field, but it may be nothing more than a rumor. when the field is dry its a nice field, but it holds to much water.

now on to the game. i did some videotaping for gridiron glory and we traveled down to welston. i particularly like the qb. i havent had the opportunity to see any games but i like their offense. im anxious to see the match up between alex d and wellston o...getting to the point, alex wins this game and secures the first playoff birth ever, and this kid travels to watch the spartans as well as all of albany :-D . anyways...

GO SPARTANS!

I will say that two of the games I have witnessed at Alexander over the last few years had horrible officials IMO. It was the same crew for both games. Ironically, one of the games I saw at Trimble this year had the same crew. And yes they were horrible again IMO. The Trimble people complained about them even though they won. So the Trimble fans that are complaining about the officials at Alexander, are at least in part, complaining about the same officials you are talking about. The difference I see is the Trimble people are complaining about them both home and away, win or lose. Alexander people are not complaining. Maybe that has something to do with the fact that they won both those games? Maybe not? You decide.

If you are talking about the Eastern game at Trimble you are right they were horrible and so was the clock operator. He didn't know how to run the clock, and the refs didn't know how to signal him to run it or stop it. They could hardly move at all either. If I had to guess I would say the average age of that crew was somewhere around 60 years old. Nothing wrong with being old, but those guys didn't even try to run. But Phil gets them every year for at least one game.
