Doesn't look like Western Brown has beaten a decent team all year. This shouldn't be any different.

Good luck to the Men of Troy!

I will take Portsmouth in this one. Besides this being a must win game for the Trojans, what else MUST happen for them to make the playoffs??

I think with so much on the line for Portsmouth they will take care of business. They are playing their best football right now on offense. This offense has been successful against every team they've played with the exception of the Burg game. This team will only be getting better next year. Good times ahead for the Trojans fans, as they are returning 9 starters on that offense. Handle you business this Friday and we might just be playing in Week 11.

I think last night was a great boost after a tough loss at Ironton and I actually believed playing Ironton made our line better as it showed as the line played probably one of the best games of the year. I don't think it has ever happened where Portsmouth has had 3 backs over 150 yards. I know they came close maybe against Vinton County back in 2001? Hope for a great week of practice and the seniors pick up one more win and hopefully get in for week #11.

looks like Portsmouth need #9 7-2 Bishop Hartley to lose to 7-1 Bishop Ready Portsmouth can't pass Hartley if Hartley wins , Portsmouth should jump "8 Alexander if both Portsmouth and Alexander wins more points for Portsmouth 4 win Div 2 team, Alexander plays Wellston 3 win Div 4 team
so Portsmouth needs to win and Hartley to lose and should be in the playoffs

I think we also need for Fairland to lose to Coal grove or they could jump us. There max out points could give them enough, But that would come down to both teams secondary points.

The way I see it I think we need
1. Coal Grove to beat Fairland - This should be a close game but I think Coal Grove should win
2. Bishop Hartley to lose to lose to Ready- I think this will be another tight one but, should still go the Trojans way.
3.Wellston to beat Alexander- This one would be an upset but I think it is very possible. I think even if Alexander wins the Trojans can still pass Alexander with a Trojan win, and some help in 2nd level points. The bad news is we would need some upsets to get the needed level 2 points, and I don’t see many good opportunities.

Upsets by Trojan opponents that would help the Trojan’s playoff chances.
1. South Point over Chesapeake- possible but I doubt it happens.
2. West over Burg - NOT SURE if this one would work for us, with out some others as well. I’m afraid that without some other 2nd level points a West victory may allow them to jump us.
3. Chillicothe over Logan - I know this one won’t happen, but it would sure help the Trojans if it did.
4.Warren over Ironton- I don’t think this will happen either, but Warren could upset the Tigers with some luck. This would be a good boost for the Trojans.
5.Gallia over Marietta- I don’t see this one as an upset. I think Gallia should pick up the win this week and add to the Trojans total. ( doesn’t really matter, since the Trojans have a victory over both)

So this week it’s Go HORNETS, READY, ROCKETS, POINTERS, CAVS, and WARRIORS. This shows that there are plenty of ways the Trojans can get into the playoffs.

All we can do is not worry about what everyone else is doing, and win vs. Western Brown. Go Trojans get to 7-3 then we can worry about week 11.

Looking forward to Friday night and watching our Trojans hopefully winning to finish 7-3, which is what I predicted before the season began.......I agree with the other posters, we do need some help, but as far as Gallia vs. Marietta, it would help PHS if Marietta won because they are a D2 school, while Gallia is D3.

I don't anticipate much help on second level points, but in the event we win and don't make the playoffs, I agree with biggdowgg, WE HAVE HAD A FINE SEASON AND AM VERY PROUD OF OUR KIDS!!!

GO TROJANS!!!

This is what I found on the OHSAA website about 2nd level points.

Second level points - 10.0 from Opponent 1 {2 wins times 5.0 (for defeating Division III opponents)}, 10.0 from Opponent 2 {2 wins times 5.0 (for defeating Division III opponents)} and 5.0 from Opponent 3 {1 win times 5.0 (for defeating a Division III opponent)} for 25.0 points. These 25 points are then divided by 99 (since Opponent 3 thus far has had an open date) and multiplied by 10 = 2.5253 second level points.

Wouldn’t we benefit more from a Gallia victory? If Gallia won if would be 5.5 more 2nd level points, for them beating a D2 school. Where if Marietta won it would be 5 2nd level points for beating a D3 team. Maybe I’m wrong but I think we would benefit more from a Gallia win. If I’m wrong please let me know what I’ve got wrong.

Either way we can’t do anything but win our game, and let the math work itself out.

i believe they can stop people. They only game they couldnt stop anyone was Wheelersburg which was a total melt down. Look what they did week 2 against west. granted they didn't full out stop Trevon Penelton but they contained him quite well.

Trojan FB Alum: You could very well be right about the Gallia vs. Marietta game......I just thought it would benefit us more if Marietta won, but I am certainly not astute about the point system..........I just hope that we win our game and get some help from somewhere......although it looks like the odds are not in our favor.

Sure would be nice to have that one point loss against Jackson back. Trojans would have been playing this week for position instead of playing to get in.

Burg has the same situation with the one point loss to Minford. They would have been playing for position instead of playing to get in.

Both just has to take carre of business first and then let everything else fall into place.
