With Coal Grove having already clinched at least a share of their third straight OVC Title and having won at least 8 regular season games for the first time since 1992, the Hornets will now try to cap off an outstanding regular season with a win against Fairland. A win would almost certainly guarantee the Hornets a spot in the playoffs for the 1st time since 1996.

Fairland, on the other hand, will be trying to get over a shocking upset loss to Chesapeake on senior night and will be shooting for a 2nd straight OVC title share.

Let the p***ing contest begin!

If the Dragons even want to think about winnin the must get the ball in Boomers hands atleast 30 times.
Something they should have been doing all season, but the coaching staff doesn't seem to understand that!!

YOU HAVE TO GIVE THE BALL TO BOOMER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is your best playmaker no matter what anyone says....you cant just give him the ball 10 times and expect to win, and the run defense is gonna have to step it up big time because groves gonna watch the last 2 weeks in particular and see that fairland has given up about 600 yards rushing!!!!!!! Get your heads outta your butts and win a share of the OVC!!! lets go green...goodluck to grove as well, this seems to becoming a rivalry of its own...im lovin it

This will be a great game, the only problem I see with the Hornets right now is the DB's need to learn to defend the receiver and look back at the quarterback, we are getting beat on pass plays because by the time our db's look back the ball is already in the recievers hands.

Best game in the series was probably in 1996 when Fairland stopped Dusty Smith on the 2 point conversion and left town with a 37-36 win!

Best game I've seen in the series was the match-up in 2004. Coal Grove gets down 21-0 in the 1st quarter and eventually win 42-41 on a 2-pt conversion.

I don't know that knocking fairland's coaches gameplan is what a dragon fan wants to do... In all honesty, how many people thought that Fairland would be in the position that they are now in before the season started?

The new coaching staff is why they are where they are at. They know what the players need to do to win and will call plays accordingly. After that, it's all up to the player!

BTW, I will be at this game and shooting photos if anyone is interested. Good luck to both teams as they square up for a playoff birth!

I agree as far as an entertaining game fuzz but liked earps example better because of the outcome. Both great games though.

fairland lets step it up and shut them down like we did last year! our defense needs to do something cause it got ran over by chesapeakes line and we have a big line in adam lee if i was the coaches i would make him keep his head down and plug up some holes and make coal grove turn to the outside game. if fairland plays like we have in the past 2 years fairland will win this game thats just my opinion tho

The 86 game was a classic as well,2 overtime thriller for the outright OVC title!Brian Davis 250 plus rushing for the Grove and Paul Short from Fairland with 250 plus rushing!Fairland missed 2 field goals in the overtimes that would have won the game!

Came down to Lucas going for 2 to win instead of kicking the extra point to tie..

In my opinion, Coal Grove will score enough points to win the game. What they need to actually do to win the game is play solid D. They have given up more than 21 points 4 different times this year and still won. No doubt they can score points, but it will be interesting to see how well they will defend Fairland who likes to throw the ball and can put up both yards and points in a hurry.

The offenses will show up, the defense that shows up will win the game.

GO HORNETS!

Just an interesting fact on this matchup-

Fairland has scored 256 points in 9 games this year, averaging 28.44 pts per game.
Fairland has given up 166 pts, averaging 18 pts a game.

Coal Grove has scored 363 points and is averaging 40.33 a game.
Coal Grove has given up 187, averaging 21 a agame.

Both teams will score points!

Sounds like it should be a high scoring game. Both teams O-fense can score, and score quick. One thing to watch out for is the special teams. That might make the difference. I know CG's special teams looked good against my Falcons.

Good Luck to both teams, but, I am pulling for Coal Grove.

Coal Grove 35
Fairland 21

Proud to be a Falcon!!!

I believe CG will be victorious if the defense settles down and plays like they are capable and the coaches keep the right players where they belong. Fairland will be
out to redeem themselves after that loss to chesapeake. (who would have guess that) So I hope the grove can dedicate themselves for this game and treat it as if it was there last, because if they lose it will be their last. A victory should put them in playoffs..Lets go Grove

CG 36
Fairland 12

Fuzz how can you brag he is a HOF coach after you agreed with Grove4life about some actions of Coal Grove players and inactions of coaches mentioned on the RV vs Coal Grove game? Lucas maybe in the HOF but if all that was true he lets some players get away with to much. Not what a coach let alone a HOF coach would allow on his team.

Groveyard, to play devils advocate here, did anyone see us going up there last year and getting blasted like that, no. Our boys have to come out and play hard this whole game, not go half speed the way they have the last few weeks. If they come out early and show they own this game, then there will be no problems, if they come out slow and letting the penalty bug(in other words, play smart) get them again, then it's another year of a shared OVC title.

Just as you were pretty sure "Bloomfield, Duty, and Fisher will run all over the peake.
To much speed." ?

We see how accurate that prediction was.

The only way the Grove loses(and this is not a knock on Fairland, just the opinion that has watched the Grove play everygame this year) is by their own stupidity, personal fouls and costly mistakes have been a major problem this year, they need to come into this game and play with their smarts and not their heart(so to speak), this Grove team has a lot to lose in this one, don't beat yourselves, make Fairland beat you.
